LCY – Central Search Expansion Project

Electrical refurbishment of the existing Ground and First floor areas of LCY’s main terminal building.

Role: Electrical Contractor

Work Involved:

We were selected to undertake the complete electrical refurbishment of the existing Ground and First floor areas of the main terminal building. The works were implemented over 2 phases to incorporate the creation of a new mezzanine floor area on the first floor. The project involved the complete remove of all redundant and existing electrical services in a manner that did not interrupt the daily operations of a live airport.

Phase 1

Involved the provision of the requisite electrical services for two temporary security search lanes, this required us to work closely with the London City Airport design team. All works were completed to a very short notice period, and this was achieved to the complete satisfaction of the client.

Phase 2

This phase involved the creation of a new main Switchroom within the first-floor area and the provision of a specialist lighting control system.

We worked with the client’s design team of Atkins and EDF from the early design stages, thus ensuring that the design and specification criteria met with the client’s design brief. During these phase works BP Installations were involved with the full fabrication of the main switchgear to supply the required electrical load for the new installations for the project.

All the works were completed on time, budget and approval of the client and design team.
