Brendan Payne, Managing Director

Brendan Payne, Managing Director

Having started my career as an electrician I have been working in the construction industry for over 30 years. During that time, I developed the necessary skills to create a successful company that is in its 18th year. Since opening the company in 2000 my goal has been to deliver the best service possible to our clients and to build a team with the same hard-working ethos and high standards to represent the company. I enjoy working with a team that has the ability to go the extra mile for all our clients and I am very proud of our achievements.

I am a great believer in ongoing training for all staff members as this benefits both the individual and the company. We have a proactive focus on continual development in all key elements of the business especially Health and Safety.

As part of my role in leading the team, I ensure that I keep abreast of all elements of the business and currently hold the following accreditations:

  • ECS – Approved Electrician / gold card
  • ECS Contracts Manager / black card
  • Site Manager Safety Training Scheme
  • CITB – Directors role for Health and Safety (Certificate)
  • CITB – CDM 2015 – Principal Contractors (Certificate)
  • St John Ambulance First Aid at Work

Gary Whittaker, Senior Projects Manager

Joined BPI in June 2000, after 20 years’ experience of been involved in the electrical installation industry. Since joining BPI, I have been involved as Senior Project Manager for overseeing the Electrical and Mechanical services provided by BPI at London City Airport, including all major and minor projects, reactive maintenance, periodic testing and act as an advisor to the Client.

My experiences include client liaison, interface meeting as Principal Contractor between all site trades, MEP Project Management, scheme design works, mechanical & electrical engineering co-ordination etc.

Barmila Sivakumar, Projects Finance Manager

Joined BPI in 2016 as a Project Finance Manager. I have been involved in the accountancy profession for over 17 years whilst I obtained a Charted Certified accountant. I have vast experience in dealing with accounting and audit functions of a wide range of clientele ranging from PLC’s to the smaller business, with trades including construction industry and property investment, waste recycling.

Before joining BPI, I worked for Laing O’ Rourke as a Project Accountant, managing multiple billion values of projects across south region of England. Producing financial reporting, cost control and value management

Beresford Hoyte

Beresford Hoyte, Quantity Surveyor – Estimating/Bid Manager

Joined BPI in March 2018 as Quantity Surveyor Bid Manager, I have been working in the construction world for over 22 years from starting out as an Estimator working my way to Junior QS, QS and now at Senior level. The projects I have worked on over the years range from Design & Build of new building in Central London, listed buildings, Football Stadiums, the Dome, London Underground under the Metronet Project, Railways – East London Line Extension, to EDF/UKPN Upgrade to current Networks and finally London City Airport for various upgrades.

My main duties are to prepare and evaluate tenders from information provided by Architects, Engineers, Project Managers, Design Consultants, Prospective Industry Clients or ad-hoc tender requests from LCY.

Negotiate tender submission with sub-contractors leading to awarding contracts to the successful sub-contractors.

Yogesh Patel, QHSE Compliance Manager

Joined BPI in November 2016 as QHSE Compliance Manager, after previous 17 years with a major M&E FTSE Listed company based in London with offices throughout the UK, last 12 years as Group Quality & Environmental Manager with responsibility for all business systems accreditations, ISO9001, ISO14001, Achilles Building Confidence & Achilles Rail Link -Up, B&ES (HVAC), CHAS, etc.

Previous work experience within local government, brewing industry, high value wholesale and retail industries.

Stuart Shrubb

Stuart Shrubb, Project Manager – Electrical

Joined BPI Six years ago as Electrical Project Manager for London City Airport Projects and other works. Overall responsibility to manage all electricians working for BPI and managing all subcontractors engaged by BPI for any works.

Currently involved with multiple projects at London City Airport including IT Rooms, West Pier Extension Project, FEGP etc.

Previous work experience in electrical Project Management for distribution and installation company covering varying industries from commercial, education, factories and domestic works.

Michael Bailey, Construction Manager

Michael Bailey, Construction Manager

Currently my position is that of BPI Construction Project Manager at London City Airport, for the past 18 months. My responsibilities are for Site Health, Safety and Security, CDM and overseeing all construction works on LCY projects.

I have the experience of working in the construction fit out / refurbishment industry for the last 30 years and have worked on many prestigious Projects that include The Shard, HSBC Building and Universal Music.

My qualifications are SMSTS / Managers and Professionals Black CSCS Card holder / First Aid at Work / PASMA.

Walter Lynes, Testing Manager/Project Manager

Walter Lynes, Testing Manager / Project Manager

Joined BPI in March 2017 as Electrical Testing Manager and as NICEIC Qualifying Supervisor to oversee all the test and commissioning functions for the full Electrical Installation services provided by BPI.

With over 40 years’ experience in the construction industry compassing Electrical, Telecoms, Data and CATV Installation, test and commissioning, IT /Telecoms/Transmission Room Design.

Project work experience with Nortel Switch / Transmission rooms in Europe (France, Germany, Sweden etc.) and Emergency Lighting installation works within BT Offices in the UK.

Gary Ryan, Project Manager – Mechanical

Currently position of Mechanical Project Manager, joined BPI in January 2016, after a number of years in the construction industry.

Currently managing all mechanical aspects of the London City Airport West Pier Project including liaison with sub-contractors and client team, programming of works in operational areas and for London City Airport direct contractors in conjunction with client departmental project managers.

Training and Qualifications: Gas Safe Registered, Level 2 Certificate in domestic natural gas installation and maintenance, Level 2 NVQ in Central Heating and Water heating systems, others include CCN1, CPA1, CKR1, HTR1, CENWAT, MET1 & LCWR.

Mike Ashley

Mike Ashley, Project Manager

Joined BPI Nov 2018 as a Project Manager. I have been working in the Construction Industry for over 30 years and the Rail Sector for past 25 years in a customer facing capacity. My experience includes Project Engineer, Design Review, MEP Manager, CRE (Contractors Responsible Engineer) and Project Management. My current role is to manage new projects from inception to delivery into service, ITT reviews and small works maintenance management. I am a member of the Association of Project Managers.

Dawn Whitnell

Dawn Whitnell, Site Office Manager

Joined BPI in April 2018 as Office Manager after gaining 13 years experience working for London City Airport in a variety of roles such as Property Manager and Head of Contract Management. My main responsibilities are to ensure the smooth running of the office on a day-to-day basis through a range of administrative and managerial tasks whilst providing support to the team.

Clare Holmes, Buy / Accounts Assistant

Clare Holmes, Buyer / Accounts Assistant

Joined BPI in April 2016 and currently work as an accounts assistant and am responsible for the procurement of all materials and equipment for the projects.
My qualifications include AAT Foundation Course – Levels 2 and 3, Sage 200 user for the accounts and procurement. I am fully conversant with Microsoft Office suites as Word, Excel and Access programs.
My previous experience was as an accounts assistant for over 12 years.

Sewor Yohuno

Sewor Yohuno, Document Controller

Joined BPI in May 2018 as Document Controller. I have experience working in design as a Design Coordinator on projects such as One Black Friars. My main responsibilities are to oversee and control the flow of documentation and any administrative tasks such as creation of Autocad drawings.
